3 Ways to Beat Creative Block

Recently, I've been a little off. I've been feeling uninspired and every time I sit down to write a post, I just can't do it. It's a strange feeling to go from having too many ideas, to none at all. When I do have an idea, it's hard for me to execute it for some reason. I currently have almost 10 drafts in my queue waiting to be finished. Ugh, the struggle.

I sat down and started thinking about my favorite ways to beat that uninspired feeling and thought I would share!

Attend creative networking events

After attending #welcomehomecreatives, I went home feeling excited and ready to go (a feeling that was gone for about a week)! Meeting other people that were so excited to hear about what I do made me excited to talk about it, and then go home and do it! If you have the opportunity to go to a local networking event and talk with creatives (in real life, not on the internet), I definitely recommend it. You will get so much out of it!

Read your favorite blogs

Like I said, I've been in a funk (a big one). I took it easy for about two weeks, and in that time I read my favorite blogs through and through. Enjoying other blogs reminds me why I love blogging so much and why I do it. That helped me get back in the groove of writing and creating.

Take a day off

Don't try to force it. If you're not feeling creative, sometimes the best thing to do is take a step back and let it sit. Maybe take a walk, have coffee with a friend, spend the day thinking of anything but blogging. Now, this is easier said than done, especially if you make a living with your blog. BUT! Sometimes your mind just needs a break. So, if you can't escape the entire day, try an afternoon, or the morning.

It's important to remember that creativity usually doesn't just come back in a day or afternoon. Sometimes it can take a week, or even a couple weeks! Don't beat yourself up, it will get there eventually!
