Adiós 21 + Thoughts on 22

Well, that's it. I'm 22. Typing that feels weird, and no, I will not be quoting Taylor Swift lyrics all day, sorry to disappoint. (Although, next year is a different story and I will most definitely be overusing Blink lyrics all day). I can't go on some rant about how old I am because I'm still young. At the same time, it feels weird to be another year older when I feel the exact same age, and it seems like just yesterday I turned 21...

My birthday is my absolute favorite day of the year. I love it more than Christmas, Thanksgiving, and 4th of July combined. Which says a lot because I LOVE those days! My birthday has always been my favorite, and I tend to celebrate it all month long. The week of my birthday I act like royalty (aka drama queen), the weekend of my birthday I'm on cloud 9, and the actual day itself I could just cry of happiness. I know that sounds crazy, you can blame my mom for that, and although most people like their birthday less as they get older, I just love mine even more as the years go by.

Before you think I'm some self-centered weirdo (I promise I'm not), or a crazy woman (maybe just a little), I'll explain a little more. Your birthday is the one day a year that you (usually) don't have to share with anyone else. There are a million people around you, but that is your day. When you were born, you made an impact on so many lives, and each year on that day it feels as though people are thanking you for making a difference in their life. It's also the one day a year people basically congratulate you for not dying and for living another year, so there's that too.

I think I'm just digging myself into a bigger and bigger hole of strangeness. So I'll stop while I'm ahead. 21 taught me patience, love, humility, that it's okay to not understand everything, to appreciate the little things, to not worry about the things you don't have control over, and more about myself than I knew there was to learn.

In my 22nd year of life I want to do so many things... too many to list, but here are a few:

Travel More
Be Spontaneous
Take More Photos
Start My Career
Grow My Blog
Surround Myself with Family + Friends

Drink More Water (and Coffee)
Meet New People
Take a Class for Fun
Adventure More
Worry Less
Give Back

I'm grateful for a wonderful life of 22 years and to have had so many incredible experiences at such a young age. Life is so exciting and I can't wait to see what it has in store for me! Check back in next year to see if I completed the items on my list!
